BASICS-II Onboards New Cassava Seed Entrepreneurs

CRS BASICS-II onboarded 45 additional seed entrepreneurs in Benue State and 40 pioneer seed entrepreneurs in Kogi State in October 2020 following sensitization activities in both states. The seed entrepreneurs will support the project’s efforts to establish decentralized, commercially viable seed enterprises.  The onboarding events were held in Makurdi for Benue and Lokoja for Kogi. For the Benue event goodwill messages were received from CRS leadership and the Project Management Unit of BASICS-II based in IITA Ibadan. The event was also attended by the leadership of the Benue State Seed Producers Cooperative Union (BSSPCU) whose president, Mr. Chia Francis, also gave a welcome remark. Attendees at the Kogi event included the Project Manager for BASICS-II, a representative of National Agricultural Seed Council, representative of the Kogi State Commissioner of Agriculture, representative of Wadahi Farms, representative of the Managing Director of Kogi Agricultural Development Program, representative of the Managing Director of Crest Agro Limited, and the chairman of the Nigeria Cassava Growers Association, Kogi state branch who all gave remarks.
